Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a structure that reconstructs the tooth on all sides, increases its endurance and protects it from cracking.
Restoring teeth
Dental crowns are made of modern and very durable materials that are also aesthetically pleasing. Such materials are ceramics and zirconia. Enamel removal and crown fixation are performed under a microscope and the workspace is isolated by a dental dam (insulating membrane). Thanks to this procedure, the crown will last for at least 15 years.
Replace easy damaged teeth with new dental crown
Dental crowns are a functional and aesthetic replacement for damaged teeth. They differ from conventional dental fillings in that they cover the entire visible surface of the tooth from the gum to the top of the tooth, thus replacing the entire original surface. They are an artificial shell of the tooth that protects it.
Their shape and colour mimic the original teeth quite faithfully. We recommend their fabrication in all cases where the tooth cannot be reconstructed in a more conservative way (e.g. with a filling).
Crowns can be made of a single material or consist of layers. Depending on the condition of the affected tooth, the aesthetic and strength requirements of the crown must always be matched, and in our clinics we prefer all-ceramic and metal-ceramic crowns.
What are the types of dental crowns?
ALL-CERAMIC DENTAL CROWNS
All-ceramic crowns represent the aesthetic pinnacle of contemporary dental prosthetics and are the most natural visual replacement for the original dentition. They are strong, precise, long-lasting and, most importantly, aesthetic. Thanks to these properties, they are completely indistinguishable from your own teeth and are the most suitable alternative for front teeth.
METAL CERAMIC DENTAL CROWNS
Metal-ceramic crowns are made of solid metal on which a ceramic layer is applied under high temperatures. The crowns are strong enough to withstand mechanical loads and are visually unobtrusive, but the metal part can sometimes shine through or otherwise visually interfere with the crown.
PROVISIONAL DENTAL CROWNS
These serve as a temporary cover for a sharpened tooth until a definitive dental crown of some type is fitted. They provide an aesthetic appearance for the patient, restore tooth function and protect the clinical crown from possible breakage. They are most often made of plastic.
When are crowns an appropriate solution?
- A large part of the tooth surface is damaged
- The structure is disturbed due to mechanical damage (cracking, breaking off part of the tooth)
- In case of atypical shape and position of the tooth
- As protection for weakened teeth
- When the original tooth substance is missing (e.g. due to frequent fillings)

The natural tooth crown is the part of the tooth that lies above the gum. If this is severely damaged, an artificial dental crown is created so that the natural tooth can remain.
The dental crown is a fixed dental prosthesis and is very close to the original, natural tooth situation. This makes it possible to restore chewing and speaking functions almost completely.
Dental crowns can be made of different materials such as metal, gold, titanium or steel. The nowadays common dental crown made of full ceramics does not need any metal at all. That is why it is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. In addition, it is characterized by high stability, long durability and aesthetics.
The all-ceramic crown has no disturbing metal margins and is almost indistinguishable from the natural dental crown. This dental crown does not require a metal framework and is therefore the aesthetically perfect solution with good biocompatibility.
In 5 steps we make a new crown or veneer, after about 2 hours you leave the PRAXIS with a new tooth.
The old filling or caries is removed,
A three-dimensional impression of the tooth is made with an optical camera, without a tray impression or impression material.
The new crown is digitally calculated directly at the dental chair by computer, you can evaluate the result in advance and plan changes in aesthetics.
The digital design is transferred to the CAD/CAM milling machine. The milling process usually takes 15 minutes. The crown is then tempered in a special furnace (glaze firing).
The high-precision crown or inlay/veneer is placed and you go home with a new tooth.
